The Why:
I thought it’d be cool to make a same-artist mashup/medley. Also, the Lacey Hearts was getting other opportunities to perform at our college and on choir tour, so we were trying to learn more music to sing together.
The How:
The Lacey Hearts consisted of the three of us, and it worked out for each of us to sing one of the songs primarily. These three songs have similar chord progressions in some parts. When I fit them into the same key the melodies overlap a little, but we arranged some harmonies and layering of different phrases so that our voices filled out the chords. I played it in E, (capo on 2, playing D). My favorite part is when the three songs escalate at the “bridge,” we sing the verse of “If It’s Love” in 3-part harmony, then go unison before splitting off into the separate songs again.
